Special Edition Inc.

Our engines find their way into "Brand New" Beck Speedsters and 550 Spyders!!!!

The fine folks at Special Edition, Home of the Beck Speedster and 550 Spyder employ more of our turn key engines than anyone else.

We have worked with their team to create a group of engines that capitalize on the lightweight character of their vehicles, providing exceptional performance, more than adequate longevity and excellent reliability.

Anyone purchasing a Beck vehicle new has the ability to order their vehicle with one of our engines. If you choose a RAT "Type 1 TurnKey" you can rest assured that you'll be buying an engine that couples superior assembly and tuning processes with application specific components for a smooth running performer!

The 1915, 2165 and 2332cc engines that we produce all have their own unique personality that was bred into them during their development and then honed during assembly and tuning.

All RAT engines come with a full  specification manual, complete with dyno specifications, oil and fuel specifications as well as a Certificate of Authenticity. Each is a serialized unit that can be referenced in our system at any time, should you need information about your RAT engine in your Beck Speedster or Syder.

At the present our development team, along with Special Edition are developing the "X4CS" cooling system, a truely effective replica of the Carrera 547 "4 cam" cooling system. We are also working on several other engine combinations and even the creation of a "Limited Edition" engine for a special series of Beck 550 Spyders. This Normally Aspirated 250 HP, twin plugged, EFI equipped engine will beyond the scope of what any other builder has brought to the 550 Spyder replicar to date.

In August of 2007 we travelled to Bremen Indiana to complete three days of data acquisition with a focus on engine temperature of a recently developed 125HP, 1914cc engine combination. Using our Race Technology data logger we tested the engine in various conditions and imposed several handicaps on the vehicle to stimulate engine temperature changes purposely. The results were a thorough understanding of tour product when employed into a Beck vehicle, thus advancing understanding to the next level. With this data we now understand  the challenges that our customers can experience, how to avoid them and how to remedy them. Nothing beats Scientifically gathered data!

Note: We offer our engines and developments exclusively to the customers of Special Edition. We do not offer our engines for employment in any other brand of "New" Speedster or 550 Spyder in North America.

Should you own one of these cars that is not "New" we can supply you with one of our engines, no matter which MFR completed your vehicle.

The best part is we'll be here to support your engine, should the need arise. We'll work with your local mechanic, or with you when its time for maintenance and scheduled services.

Unlike other replicar engine builders we have implemented a private online forum for the purchasers of our engines. This forum is checked daily by a member of our team and questions are answered and concerns are discussed. Telephone support is also available, if necessary.

Remember: It is not our goal to build the highest number of engines, but rather to develop and implement engines and components to take the replicar to the next level, thus raising the bar for other replicar manufacturers and engine developers to attempt to parallel.
